Types of
memorization
-
Word
for word. This is the best when memorizing the Bible.
It's suggested that you use a version that is accurate and readable.
-
Concepts
in order: This is acceptable when memorizing either questions
to ask, the gospel message, or your testimony. As long as the
concepts are covered, it's not at all important to use the exact
words each time.
o
This is normally done by memorizing an outline.
o
It can be very effective to visualize what you're
memorizing. For example, when memorizing the questions, picture a
person wondering what will happen to them when they die. Then
picture a perfect heaven, and an imperfect person who doesn't know how
to get there. If you can picture all that in order, and just spend
a little time memorizing how the questions are asked, you'll have it
done.
Ways to memorize.
-
Read
out loud whatever your going to memorize so many times in a row for
several days. This works very well for some people.
Reading it and hearing yourself say it at the same time can be very
effective.
-
Start
at the end, say a few words, then keep adding on a few words until
you've memorized everything.
-
Start
at the beginning with a few words, say them a few times, then say
the next group of words, then say them all. Keep doing this
until you've memorized everything.
